I'm so lost in German class, the only things I get are the words similar to English. But just a question, I'm learning German for the first time, what would you recommend me to start on first? Verbs? Complete sentences?

Hmm.. A bit of both. Try learn a bunch of different verbs, nouns, adjectives, then take a sample sentence and try swapping different parts into the same structure. It isn't far at all from "Bist du kalt?" (Are you cold?) to "Gibt es ein Klo?" (Is there a toilet?), just swap the 'question bit' (are you/is there) and the object (cold/a toilet). Same for "Das Gebaude ist alt" (the building is old) to "Ich moechte ein Broetchen" (i would like a bread roll): same structure, just 'the building' swapped for 'I', 'is' swapped for 'would like', and 'old' swapped for 'a bread roll'.
So yeah. Individual words. Most of the time german grammar is close enough to English that if you can translate individual words, you can make understandable sentences. And remember (even though its cheating) most Germans are better at English than some people at BHS.
